Mommy: “Luigi, do you like some halo halo?” Luigi: “Sure.” Later, after a trip to Chow King…. “Are you finished with your halo halo?” “Yes.” “E ang dami pa a.”“I just ate the leche flan.” Si Miko naman, parang ako dati. I called it ‘yemishu’, meaning yelo-milk-sugar. That’s all he’ll eat in halo halo.

Luigi: “Mommy, in the show that we watched last night, (Ms. Congeniality 2, HBO) what were the 3 letters they said they belonged to again?”“FBI. They’re like detectives.”“O yeah, I know detectives. Like when they want to find out who stole the last cookie!”

I went to KL last Friday, to help my very pregnant sister and soon to be born Lucas come home to the Philippines. The night before I left, Miko was already so sad, and was constantly following me around with this sad, puppy-eyed look on his face…. embracing me and whispering that he’s going to…

Luigi: “Mommy, when you’re in Malaysia, can you buy me a book?”Mommy: “Sure. What kind? About the Petronas Towers?”“No, about the history of the Philippines.”

Miko: “Mommy, please scratch my back.” Mommy: “Ok… here?” “No… left…. no the other left.”
