Luigi’s Scare

As is our habit, we check in on the boys at night before retiring to our own bedroom. I normally check the aircon or electric fan, and I turn off their lampshade if they’re already asleep. I also check if their blankets are all tangled up.

One night about a month ago, I went inside, turned off their light, and was trying to see if Luigi’s blanket was twisted around him.

Luigi opened his eyes, saw a dark silhouette standing beside him (he didn’t realize that it was me), and let out a yell.

“MAMA!!”

Then he was wiping his eyes, kasi napaluha siya sa takot…. Grabe, sobrang na-guilty ako! Naiyak ako sa awa sa kanya. I kept on saying sorry and embracing him to comfort him, coz his heart was pounding. I gave him a glass of water, and stayed with him till long after he fell asleep.
