Fifth Disease
In a previous blog, I mentioned that Miko was absent last Thursday because he had fever. It continued until Saturday, pero low grade lang naman. Then Monday, he went to school already, but his teacher called me to say that he had rashes all over his arms and legs, so sinundo ulit siya. Pinacheck ko kay Dr. Ludan, who said he had “Fifth Disease” which is kinda like measles, pero milder. They know this in Centro as “Slapped Cheek” (a semi-medical term) because the child gets red in the cheeks, looking like he’s been slapped. Actually, parang Roseola or tigdas hangin – low grade fever, then rashes after few days.
So bakasyon si Miko. Yesterday, we had a follow up checkup, and got a medical certificate to assure his classmates that he’s not contagious. Today, Friday, was his first day back. He still has traces of rashes, but he’s not sick anymore. Thank goodness hindi nahawa si Luigi. Dan got sick also, and my, was he down with it for a week, but no rashes appeared, so I guess it’s not the same virus.
Whew! Hirap pala maging nurse sa more than one patient!
